Book 50 - The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead

Reading date - December 2020

I could not get on with Underground Railroad so I was surprised to find myself liking this.  The book tells the tale of two boys sent to a correctional school, one who is a pessimist and one who is an optimist.

I flew through this book, it was heart wrenching and sad for the most part but I believe it tells an honest story of what went on in these correctional schools in the South in America back in the day.

It can be quite overwhelming to read something as full on as this so I tried my best to leave it alone for long periods of time but that didn't really work so I ended up finishing it within days.

Would recommend.
